Suzumiya Haruka and Hayase Mitsuki are two best friend during highschool sweet days. Mitsuki is helping Haruka to get closer to a boy named Narumi Takayuki. Mitsuki, Haruka, Takayuki, and Taira Shinji (Takayuki's friend) becoming close to each other.

One day, with the help of Mitsuki, Haruka confess her feeling to Takayuki. In his heart, the one Takayuki like is Mitsuki. But finally Takayuki accept Haruka's feeling and trying hard to love her. He does ! Smoothly, he's starting to date Haruka and loves her so much.

Mitsuki is deeply hurt by her own feeling. She actually also likes Takayuki, but she can't betray Haruka, her own best friend. And she goes worse and worse in swimming, her best talent that should be able to take her to a good life.

That morning, Haruka is waiting for Takayuki for a date. Takayuki arrives late because he met Mitsuki and she asked him to buy her a ring for her birthday present. A car hit Haruka and she is terribly wounded.

Haruka is in a comma condition. After the accident, Takayuki lost his spirit to live. He feels really guilty as the accident was all his fault. He always wondering if only he can make it on time that day. He comes to hospital everyday, waiting for Haruka to wake up. But the day seem so far to come.

As the time flows, Mitsuki takes Haruka's place to take care of Takayuki every day. She cooks for him, clean for him, does everything for him. Slowly, Mitsuki help him to recover and get through the hardest time in his life.

Three years later, Takayuki is no longer visit Haruka in hospital because her parents asked him not to come anymore. Akane, Haruka's younger sister, hates Mitsuki so much for betraying her sister and becoming Takayuki's girlfriend.

Takayuki has a part time job in a restaurant. Mitsuki has a job in a trading company. Akane is now becoming a great swimming athlete. Shinji is a university student now as he is the only one taking university test.

Haruka wake up from her comma and ask to see Takayuki. Her memory is kind of unstable and she forgot many things easily. With the doctor's advise, everyone pretending as if Haruka only sleep for few days, not years.

From Akane's phone call, Takayuki goes to see Haruka once again in hospital. By his responsibility, Takayuki pretends to be Haruka's boyfriend, to help her recover her memory. And so Haruka's parents once again meet Takayuki. This time, they ask for apology and ask him to visit Haruka again.

And day flows by as Haruka thinks she still has Takayuki by her side. Once again Haruka asks Takayuki to do their "love charm", kissing, and telling sweet words for each other.

As Takayuki visits Haruka every night after his part time job, Takayuki's relationship with Mitsuki goes worse and worse. While Mitsuki feels really guilty for betraying Haruka, Takayuki is feeling really guilty for causing the accident.

One night Haruka realize that her body is so much different than before. Her hair becomes long, her finger becomes thinner. And Akane finally told her that Haruka was sleeping for 3 years, and Takayuki is dating Mitsuki right now. Haruka falls down once again.

After all her effort to get Takayuki's heart never seem to reach his feeling, Mitsuki finally decided to leave Takayuki.

Haruka's second comma is only for few days. She wake up again, but she can't remember anything from her past wake up. This time, Akane and her parents tell Haruka immediately that she's been sleeping for three years. No more lies and pretendings.

Haruka learns to accept this reality slowly. She asks to meet Takayuki to ask whether he is dating someone now after these three years. And Takayuki's answer is "no". Not a lie, because by the time Haruka asks him, Takayuki already broke up with Mitsuki.

Mitsuki visits Haruka in hospital and she tells her everything about her relationship with Takayuki, and about she already broke up with him. By her own way, Mitsuki is trying to give Takayuki back to Haruka. But all he receive is a slap from Haruka, which actually she deserved by betraying Haruka.

and lived alone in the forest.
One day a lonely girl happened to come by
and they became friends.
The girl called lots of friends
and they all played happily.
But Mayauru wasn't human and aged slowly.
The children grew up and eventually forgot Mayauru.

couldn't forget Mayauru and came back.

Mayauru gave the lonely-looking girl a present.

She'd forgotten that because
it's painful to have nothing but farewells.
The grown-up girl learned te words from Mayauru.
And that girl who knew words of farewell...

How this story end? Who is Takayuki's true love? The final episode has a very romantic farewell scene. At a beach, under the sunset with many waves and seagulls. The most romantic scene in all anime I've ever seen ! Honest !

This is a great story about reality. How sometimes reality can be very sweet or bitter. It's hard for us to judge who's the good girl in this anime. Why? Because there isn't ! Haruka and Mitsuki is just a player in the act of reality. And they play their separated parts.

Recommended for age 17+ (contains few ecchi/nude scenes). My rating : very good.
